Everyone dreams.  Its a proven fact. No one really knows why we dream though. Scientist believe that your mind is comprehending things so fast while you are awake during the day that you don’t have time to think about the things that you think about in your dreams. People believe that once you fall asleep you dream about the events that have happened over the past few days in your life and it’s also the time to get out any emotions that you have felt during the day. The only problem is that it is hard to remember your dreams and in the short time you do remember them, you can’t interpret them. Many people try to interpret your dreams but most of the time they can only offer you a broad generalization of what your dreams mean. Dream interpretation began thousands of years ago, dating all the way back to Babylonian times. Sigmund Freud was the first man whose ideals on dreaming and other theories on the mind were taken seriously. Freud wrote a book called “The Interpretation of Dreams” which was published in 1899 and widely spread throughout Europe. Freud defined the three parts of the psychic apparatus as the id, ego, and super ego. Freud argued that dreams were wish-fullfilments and the instigation of dreams were events that had happened during the day. Another man whose research on dream interpretation was taken seriously across the world was Carl Jung. He believed that it was more then just repressed wishes but they also revealed both personal and collective unconscious. Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung are considered the pioneers into interpreting dreams. Though both Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung are famous for their work in interpretation and understanding of dreams, there is not all that much out there to prove. People don’t always like to know what they dream about as a fear that they misinterpret the meaning of a dream. That is why dream interpretation is such a widely criticized and unpopular subject and even to this day people won’t care as there is not a direct answer to interpreting their dreams. Even on some websites they have disclaimers saying that the symbol in their dream may not mean the meaning of the symbol they have listed. In the future, people hope that their dreams can be specifically interpreted to their lifestyles and what it means to them individually. Until that time people will not pay much attention to the broad topic of dream interpretation.
